The American Heart Association has made significant changes to its course format in response to feedback from students and instructors. They have also responded to the challenges that have been imposed by the COVID pandemic and how this impacts classroom learning.
This is mandatory for all ACLS courses and replaces the videos historically viewed in a traditional classroom setting. It takes approximately 3 hours to complete these on-line modules. You will be awarded continuing education credit at the conclusion of the online modules. YOUR MUST BRING YOUR COMPLETION CERTIFICATE WITH YOU TO YOUR SCHEDULED CLASS.

5. The ACLS Precourse Self-Assessment is an online tool that evaluates students' knowledge before the course to evaluate their proficiency and determine the need for additional review and practice in 3 sections: rhythm recognition, pharmacology, and practical application. The student must complete the Precourse Self-Assessment and achieve a score of at least 70% before taking the ACLS Course.
6. The student must print/email their successful completion certificate and bring it with them to class.
7. The ACLS Precourse Work (this is different from the pre-course assessment) involves reviewing course content through online videos before entering the classroom.
8. The video lessons cover multiple medical subjects, and each lesson includes questions to engage the student.
9. This precourse work takes the place of the original in-class videos, allows more classroom time for hands-on skills training, and leads to the student being better prepared to participate as soon as they enter the classroom.
Your course completion card will be delivered to the email address you provided to the instructor/skills evaluator. Please check your spam folder if you do not receive it. It will be coming from the American Heart Association.
